Together We Shine
Our staff, children and governors would like to offer a very warm welcome to Shinewater Primary School and Little Sunshines Nursery. Shinewater is a vibrant, inclusive and family orientated school with a strong community ethos. We have created a safe, respectful, inclusive, creative and challenging environment that prepares the children to be motivated, independent and positive members of their community.
The Shinewater team is highly dedicated and always goes above and beyond the call of duty to secure excellence in everything we do as we firmly believe that our children deserve the best quality education. We have consistently high expectations and provide experiences that enable the children to meet them.
Shinewater has a creative and forward thinking curriculum that takes children on “learning adventures” that enables them to develop a range of knowledge and skills through the various curriculum subjects and enrichment opportunities. Shinewater employs specialist teachers in Computing, Outdoor Learning, Maths, English and Physical education in order to inspire the children beyond the National Curriculum requirements.
We firmly believe that a valuable education should be centred around the ‘whole child’ in terms of their well-being and academic achievement. Each child is given a range of opportunities to thrive so they make excellent progress and achieve their full potential.
Our School motto is “Together We Shine” and we are proud to be the Headteachers of this enthusiastic community of learners with a fantastic staff team, dedicated governors, supportive parents and happy, engaged children.

Welcome to Shinewater Primary School
Shinewater academised in September 2017 with the South East’s Leading Multi-Academy Trust, Swale Academies. Having worked as the successful Headteacher at nearby Langney Primary School, I was invited by Swale Academies Trust to become the Executive Headteacher for its Eastbourne Primary Schools - Shinewater Primary, Parkland Infant and Parkland Junior Schools. Langney Primary has now also joined the Swale Academies Trust family.
From September 2017, Shinewater has undergone rapid improvement and transformational change. This is a direct result of clear leadership, a focus on inclusivity, raised expectations and standards of teaching, passionate and hardworking staff, support from our families and of course our wonderful pupils. The school has a family feel like no other and the school motto “Together We Shine” encapsulates how proud everyone is of our revolutionised school.
Swale Academies Trust is an Academy chain like no other. It has a strong educational background and excellent record in consistently improving schools across London, Kent and East Sussex. Shinewater is no exception. The Trust has provided significant investment in staffing and funded our improved environment which simply could not have been afforded as a previously maintained school. The school now boasts exceptional facilities including a state-of-the art Computing Suite and digital technology, our very own woodland and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths) labs. We are unique to any other primary school as we have specialist teachers in Computing, Maths, Reading, Outdoor Education and Physical Education. We also have our very own Family Support Worker and School Counsellor who work across our family of schools.
Staff and pupils work collaboratively across all of our Swale primaries and secondary schools. If you were to visit Shinewater, Langney and The Parkland Federation you will see the same standards and approaches to teaching in many areas such as Reading, Writing, Mathematics, Computing, Special Educational Needs and Pastoral Support.
Parents are beginning to realise the extra-ordinary facilities as well as the above and beyond opportunities provided at Shinewater, Langney and Parkland schools so we have growing waiting lists. Shinewater Primary is Eastbourne’s best kept secret...and is on its journey to reclaim its previous outstanding judgement. It is a school that must be seen!
